Contemporary and traditional stained glass by Flora Jamieson.

My contemporary designs are inspired by graphic design, the natural world and random and geometric patterns. Lead lines are purposeful and meticulous, colour palettes are bold yet simple, and patterns are hand-painted and repetitive with the fluidity and texture of the brush stroke showing through.  I try to make the lead lines tell the story of the panel, rather than hide them away or use them arbitrarily.  I like my work to have a narrative that the viewer can unpick, or interpret their own way.  

My favourite part of the stained glass process is choosing the glass colours - selecting just the right tones and shades so that they sing out next to each other. Once I have applied the paint and fired it in the kiln, then the magic really happens - seeing the contrast between the black painted details and the vibrant colour, bringing the panel to life.  

 I welcome commissions of all kinds - as well as my own contemporary designs, I am also able to reproduce or restore windows from our rich heritage of domestic stained glass, such as those from the Victorian, Edwardian, Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau and Art Deco eras.

I sell small decorative items in my distinctive bold colours and simple graphic style online and in select shops and galleries.
